My Other Blog

My second blog, In the Spaces Between Words and Images is eclectic with posts often prompted by WordPress Writing Challenges. There is poetry, fiction, photos and even calligraphy. It’s the blog that helped me to return to regular writing.

For example, you’ll find a WordPress Writing Challenge: A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words:

“Yes, that’s our dad holding our hands. My mom took this photo. I’m three. My brother’s five. Greg. I’m Anne. My neck was sweating between the coat collar and the bonnet. Itchy, really. Greg’s cap is hiding a bad, homemade haircut that my mom gave him. What? Oh no, we weren’t angry, just serious. We were a loving serious family that day about to go to church. Mom’s wearing a lovely royal blue dress with light pink trim around the collar and long cuffs, a matching trapeze coat and low black heels. She was, as my dad used to say, “a real looker.”

On a lighter note, there is Have a Franken-Fabulous Witchy-Wonderful Halloween:

“As a young comic book collector, I remember my anticipation of the special issues of Halloween comics that I loved. Little Lulu, with her goofy bangs and coal nugget eyes, was my all-time favorite”:

Stop by and let me know what you think.

  1. I was a big fan of Little Lulu also…she was the only cartoon character that I could draw freehand. I wonder if they still make Lulu comics?

I adored Little Lulu and sorry I didn’t have the foresight to keep all my comics. I might surf around and see what I can find out about the history of the comic.
